I make this app on my own, so email goes to me rather than to a queue. Bugs, questions, or something you wish it did — all of it is worth sending.
Something is broken
Email hello@peteneylan.com with what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. Your app version — Settings, at the bottom — and which iPhone and iOS version you're on narrow it down quickly. If it involves a particular recording or song, say which one: nothing about your library reaches me, so your description is all I have to go on.
Where are my recordings kept?
On your phone, in the app's own storage, and nowhere else. There is no account and no server — see the privacy policy for the longer version.
Will they survive a new phone?
Yes, as long as your phone is backed up. Recordings, photos, and songs are stored where an iPhone backup picks them up, so restoring that backup onto a new phone brings the library with it.
The flip side is worth saying plainly: if you have no backup turned on, there is no other copy. Nothing sits on a server waiting to be restored, which is the same reason nobody but you can hear any of it.
Can I bring my old voice memos in?
Not today — new recordings are made in the app, and there's no import. Nothing stops you keeping both apps for a while and starting fresh here, which is what I did.
It's a fair thing to want, though, and how often people ask is what decides whether I build it. If you'd use it, tell me.
Can I get back something I deleted?
A deleted song can be undone — a message appears for a few seconds afterwards with an Undo in it. Deleting a song also never deletes the recordings inside it; they simply go back to being ungrouped ideas.
A deleted recording is gone for good. There's no server holding a copy, so export anything you would hate to lose.
How do I get a recording out of the app?
Open it and use the share button. That's the standard iOS share sheet, so it will go to AirDrop, Messages, Mail, Files, or any other app you have — straight from your phone to wherever you point it.
Does it work offline?
Completely. There's no sign-in, no account, and no connection needed for anything the app does.
I want it to do something it doesn't
Then say so. Several things in the app are there because someone emailed and asked, and it's the most useful mail I get.
