Asking Siri to start a recording works. The take now begins once Siri has finished, rather than failing while Siri still has the microphone.
A take that captured no audio is no longer saved, so you won't find an idea in the list that plays nothing.

Rename an idea while you're listening to it — tap its name, or the pencil at the top. The name field has a clear button now, so renaming no longer starts by deleting a date by hand.
An idea's tags show on that same screen, and you can add or change them there instead of going back to the list.
The mini player stands apart from the list behind it, rather than blending into it in bright light.
A take you start from a Shortcut now offers the same undo as one you record in the app. It was always saved properly; there was just no way to change your mind about it.

A song can hold words and photos as well as recordings. Write the lyrics out under the take they belong to, photograph the ones you scrawled on paper, and drag everything into whatever order the song wants.
Take a photo or add one you already have — a chord chart, a whiteboard, a notebook page. Tap it to read it full size.
Record into a song without losing sight of it. The recorder takes the lower half of the screen, so you can scroll through the words while you sing them.
Long blocks of text fold away to their first line, so a full lyric sheet doesn't bury the takes underneath it.
One + button in a song now covers all of it: record an idea, add ones you recorded earlier — as many as you like at once — write something down, or add a photo.
Your songs are grouped by when you last worked on them, so whatever you are in the middle of is at the top rather than wherever you happened to start it.
Deleting a song now happens inside the song, and can be undone.
Notes you'd already written are now the song's first block of text, editable where the rest of the song is instead of behind a menu.

Tags are now suggested from what an idea sounds like — a guitar, vocals, a piano — and offered when you go to add tags.
Turn on "Tag new ideas automatically" in Settings and new recordings get those tags without being asked.
Tap "Idea saved" after recording to go straight to the idea you just made.

Crop an idea to the part you actually want. Tap Crop, and it snaps to where the sound starts — then drag to move it and pinch to change how long it runs.
Loop the cropped part, so a phrase can keep going round while you work out the next line.
Cropping never changes your recording. It only sets what plays, and you can reset it whenever you like.

Record straight into a song — no more recording, then hunting for it in Ideas.
Loop playback, so you can keep a phrase running while you work out what comes next.
Undo a take you just recorded, without leaving the recording screen.
Tags now start with a set of song parts and genres, and you can rename, recolor or delete any of them.
The Quick Capture mic turns red while recording, so you can tell from any tab.
Drag a song's ideas to put them in the order you want — no Edit button needed.
Swipe an idea inside a song to take it out again. The recording is kept.
A new Settings screen, where you can read what changed in every update.
