Something is broken

Email hello@peteneylan.com with what you did, what happened, and what you expected instead. Which iPhone or iPad you're on, and which version of iOS, narrows it down quickly. If it involves a particular picture, describe it: nothing about your projects reaches me, so your description is all I have to go on.

How do I add a prop?

Tap it. Choose a category along the top of the tray, then tap any prop and it lands on your photo — there's no dragging. Drag the tray upwards to see the whole grid, or flick it down to get your picture back; the Add Props button brings it up again.

Moving, resizing, and turning a prop around

Tap a prop to select it, then drag to move it, pinch to resize, and twist to rotate. Mirror flips it to face the other way, which is usually what you want for a hat brim or a hand. Done keeps your changes; Cancel puts the prop back exactly as it was when you selected it, including anything you painted.

How do I delete a prop I've placed?

Press and hold it. You'll feel a small tap when it goes.

Making a prop actually fit

This is the part worth learning. Select a prop and use Paint to rub out the bits that should sit behind something — the back of a hat brim where hair crosses it, the arm of a pair of glasses. Trace does the same thing by drawing around what you want to keep. Turn the magnifier on for fiddly edges, and undo anything you don't like.

Where are my pictures kept?

On your device, in the app's own storage, and nowhere else. There is no account and no server — see the privacy policy for the longer version.

Will they survive a new phone?

Yes, as long as your phone is backed up. Projects are stored where an iPhone backup picks them up, so restoring that backup onto a new phone brings them with it.

The flip side is worth saying plainly: if you have no backup turned on, there is no other copy. Nothing sits on a server waiting to be restored, which is the same reason nobody but you can see any of it.

How do I get a picture out of the app?

Use the share button. That's the standard iOS share sheet, so it will go to Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Instagram, or your camera roll via Save Image — straight from your phone to wherever you point it.

Can I get back something I deleted?

A deleted project is gone for good. There's no server holding a copy, so share anything you would hate to lose before you delete it.

Does it work offline?

Completely. There's no sign-in, no account, and no connection needed for anything the app does — it works the same in airplane mode.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes, in any orientation. It's designed for iPhone first, so the layout on a large iPad screen is roomier than it is tailored — that's on my list.

I want it to do something it doesn't

Then say so. How often people ask for something is what decides whether I build it, and it's the most useful mail I get.
